A marking that indicates how strongly a piece of classified information is protected. Polish law has four classification levels: “top secret” (ściśle tajne), “secret” (tajne), “confidential” (poufne) and “restricted” (zastrzeżone).
The level is chosen according to the scale of damage that disclosure would cause: from exceptionally grave damage (“top secret”) to an adverse effect on the performance of tasks (“restricted”) – Article 5 of the Act on the Protection of Classified Information.1
