The two files kept on a secret collaborator: the personal file, with the recruitment documents, personal data and payments, and the work file, with his or her reports, stored separately from the identifying data.
According to the glossary of the IPN Archival Inventory, the personal file of a secret collaborator was kept on form EO-18. Its core was a four-part questionnaire: personal details and information on work, family, activities and criminal record; the justification for recruitment; the outcome of the recruitment interview and the form of the pledge; and the suspension, transfer or termination of collaboration. The file also contained a list of people who had consulted the material, a control sheet, a payment sheet, the pledge, operational material and receipts.1
Once collaboration ended, the files were archived in Bureau “C” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or in a “C” division and registered in the archive register under the symbol I. Under an agreement of 1981, the files of secret collaborators called up for military service could be passed to the WSW.1
