official contact (KS)

Collaboration with an employee of an enterprise or office, usually in a managerial post, who gave the SB information by virtue of their position.

According to the glossary of the IPN Archival Inventory, an official contact did not sign written pledges. In practice this was the SB's typical form of contact with superiors and managers in institutions covered by object cases; it also served to gather information on subordinates as part of surveillance or the vetting of a candidate for secret collaborator. PZPR members in managerial posts were also given KS status.¹

A KS file was kept and archived according to the rules for the TW personal file and work file and for the operational contact file.²
